How to get to Sorrento:
- From Naples: You can easily get from Naples to Sorrento via Naples airport or Naples train station. From the airport its around 10 euros and about half that from the train station, and roughly an hour’s traveling time. Please note, if you catch the circumvesuviana (local) train, at time of writing, there are no escalators and it can get crowded. There is also a more expensive, but more tourist friendly train (Campania express). There’s also a more expensive shuttle that will get you straight to your hotel (approx 25 euros, depending on the number of passengers). Alternatively if you have hired a car, Sorrento is roughly a 45 minute drive with pretty views. Keep in mind, parking in Sorrento can be expensive though (30 euros a day). Another option is the approx 12 euro ferry from Naples to Sorrento.
- From Rome: The Marozzi bus takes 4 hours and is a more orderly bus ride with a seat chosen for you. There’s space to store your luggage but check the timetable ahead of time to make sure you’re not spending a long time waiting. Another alternative is to catch a bus from Rome airport to Naples, and then the train onwards to Sorrento. The benefit of this option is that there are more departures.
