When you’re looking for a romantic getaway, Italy is the place to go. Italy is an incredible destination that’s filled with everything you’d expect from a European vacation. The country’s picturesque cities, charming towns, and beautiful coastlines are just a few of its charms. There’s no shortage of things to do in Italy to make your trip one to remember, but some are more popular than others. If you’re planning a romantic getaway, here are the best things to do in Italy.
Quick Info for Italy
Currency: Euro
Language: Italian
Daily budget: 100 euros a day. This will depend on your food and accommodation preferences, as well as where you spend your time. Some cities are more expensive then others, but backpackers will be able to spend less by choosing dorms and cheap eats.
How to get around: For travelers, buses and trains are the best way to get around. Driving is possible, but expensive, especially when you include parking costs which can be 30 euros a day if you can’t park for free at your hotel.
Electronics: Italy uses two types of sockets; a socket with three round holes, or one with two round holes. For these sockets, you’ll be best served by a 2 pronged plug adapter. You’ll also need to check which voltage any products you’re bringing run on because Italy uses 110V products. For example, a 220V (only) blow dryer will need a step down power converter to be used in Italy.
Is Italy Safe?: Yes, Italy is safe but don’t be unnecessarily reckless. Keep an eye on your belongings and don’t wander into dodgy looking areas and situations.
Explore the winding canals of Venice
There are countless little canals and alleys to explore. If you want to get the full experience of the city, I’d suggest you spend an entire day wandering through the small alleyways and along the canals. At night, you can sit on a bench or a boat and watch the lights change, the water reflecting the buildings.
There are many small alleys and streets to explore in Venice. You can find yourself lost if you don’t know where to go, but you can easily find your way back. When you are walking through these small alleys, it is easy to get a feeling of what Venice was like when it was still a little island. If you are lucky, you will also be able to see some beautiful views and maybe even spot some gondolas as you walk down the street. It is recommended that you take along a map, so you won’t lose your way. The best time to visit Venice is in the summer, because during this time, the weather is nice, and you can easily enjoy the sights and sounds of this beautiful city.
Stay at a Romantic Hotel or Villa
There are all kinds of hotels out there, but not all of them are romantic. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in italy, a few places to consider are: the Hotel Villa Della Torre, the Hotel La Residenza, and the Hotel L’Orientale. The Hotel Villa Della Torre is located in the small town of Castiglione delle Stiviere, near Siena, Italy. The hotel is in a 15th-century building and is the oldest hotel in Tuscany. The rooms are decorated in the style of the 17th century and they also have a spa that offers massages and facials. The Hotel La Residenza is located in Rome, and is right by the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. Rooms are decorated with modern and classic Italian design and they have a fitness room and a spa where you can relax in a whirlpool bath. The Hotel L’Orientale is located in Rome, and is right in the center of the city. This hotel is a few blocks away from the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The rooms are decorated in a modern and classic Italian design, and there’s an espresso bar.
Watch the sunset on the coast of Capri
There are more than 400 miles of coastline on the island of Capri, and some of it is breathtakingly beautiful. In fact, if you want to find the most beautiful sunsets on the entire planet, this is the place to be. The best time to visit is between September and October, when the weather is still cool, but the days are long enough to allow you to see some of the most spectacular sunsets.
It’s a perfect place to visit if you’re looking for relaxation. But, make sure that you bring lots of sunscreen because the sun can be very strong here.
Capri is one of the most famous places in the world, especially for those who love sunsets. The island has many beautiful beaches, especially the Blue Grotto, which is located a few hundred meters from the city center. The Grotto is a large cave which you can enter only with an expert guide. You can see incredible rock formations here, such as the Neptune’s Head, the Grand Canyon, the Giant’s Staircase, and the Arch of the Tritons. The Grotto was formed about 10,000 years ago, and the water inside it is a turquoise color. This color makes it one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
Feel happy that you’re not actually Romeo and Juliet in Verona (because they’re dead)
Verona, Italy is a city known for its rich cultural heritage, gorgeous scenery, and world-class food and wine. But, did you know it’s also home to one of the most famous love stories in all of literature? Verona’s Juliette Square is a popular tourist attraction and was where the characters from Romeo and Juliet would have stood while waiting for the balcony scene to begin, says Mark Cargile. Today, visitors can walk the same steps that Romeo and Juliet did when they first met in this historic area of the city.
If you are visiting Verona and want to see Romeo and Juliet’s balcony, go to Piazza delle Erbe and look towards the Duomo di San Pietro. The view is beautiful and free. The balcony is located on the second floor, and is surrounded by a red brick wall.
Escape to small villages with pretty buildings
“Small town” means a place where you feel at home, where you can enjoy your life and get away from the bustle of the city. The small towns of Italy are those places where you can be a little bit free from your daily routine, where you can live peacefully and enjoy the beauty of nature. The countryside is still dotted with quaint towns and villages, each with its own local dialect and charm. It’s still possible to find authentic Italian restaurants and trattorias where the locals can be found enjoying a good meal and exchanging stories.
For example the town of Castelmezzano has just 11,000 residents, a third of whom live in a single building. Castelmezzano, a town of fewer than 1,500 people, is located in Italy’s region of Liguria. It is situated on a hilltop overlooking the sea and is surrounded by lush mountains. Or go for something flashier like Portofino, a colourful, seaside village.
Embrace the Romantic City of Florence
There are a lot of places to visit and enjoy in Florence, Italy. Here are a few suggestions for you. The Duomo, the Baptistery, the Ponte Vecchio, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Palazzo Pitti, the Uffizi, the Bargello, and Piazza della Signoria are all great places to start your day. To enjoy the city at its best, take a morning or evening stroll through the city’s many piazze.
The Piazza della Repubblica is one of the most beautiful squares in the center of Florence. It is very large and the view from there is wonderful. The fountain at the top of the square is an example of the Florentine style. It is very ornate. You can walk down the length of the piazza. As you do so, you will be surrounded by shops, restaurants, and museums. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can take a guided tour of the Uffizi. You can find it near the Baptistery. You’ll see some of the best paintings in the world there.
Admire Italian Art & History
That’s right. There are some great things to see in Italy and the arts have played a huge role in the culture since the Renaissance. But where do you start? How can you find what you’re looking for?
There are more than 3,500 museums in Italy. Most of them were built after the Second World War, a time when Italian architecture was at its peak. But what does this mean? It means there is a huge opportunity to explore and experience art and history in this country. And if you’re looking to do just that, it’s worth looking no further than this country’s capital city, Rome. It’s the world’s fifth-largest art market. With more than 3,500 museums and galleries, it’s also one of the most culturally rich cities on the planet.
Discover Ancient Ruins
Italy has a lot of incredible ancient ruins. Rome, Naples, Pompeii, and more.
Rome was a powerful and dominant force on the Mediterranean in the 1st century BC. The empire stretched from Egypt to Spain. The capital was a bustling metropolis where people lived well, worked hard, and were educated. The Romans built aqueducts, canals, temples, and statues that stand today.
Some of the oldest ruins in the world were discovered in 2011 and they were excavated in Italy, just outside the town of Pompeii. The walls of the home were covered in frescoes, and a kitchen was found that was fully equipped, including a sink, cooking stove, and even a wine cellar. The frescoes are thought to have been painted about two and a half thousand years ago and are of a religious nature.
Stroll the cobblestone streets of Siena
The city of Siena, Italy, is one of my favourite places in the world. You may not think so, but there’s something very special about this Italian city that makes it one of my favourites. It’s a beautiful, old town where you can get lost in the narrow alleys and find yourself among centuries-old buildings. There are lots of places to eat, drink, shop and people watch. It’s the perfect place to stop off on a vacation when you’re in Tuscany.
This is a great town in Tuscany because it’s very picturesque. You can visit the Duomo, a magnificent cathedral that was built in 1298. It’s beautiful and has lots of interesting things to see and do. There are many museums to visit and a lot of people who love art and culture. If you are visiting Siena, you should check out the famous Piazza del Campo. There’s also the Palazzo Pubblico, which is the seat of the government. It’s one of the most impressive buildings in Tuscany. The Duomo Museum is very interesting too.
Go for a Romantic Day Out in the Countryside
When we think about Italy, we typically think of cities like Rome, Florence, and Venice, but the true essence of Italian culture and food lies in the countryside. Think rolling hills, quaint villas and fresh farm to table food.
There are some really great restaurants in the countryside. I have been to places like Trattoria del Capitano, Trattoria Montefibre, and Il Ponte Vecchio. These are all fantastic. If you have an opportunity to go to the countryside, you should go. You can experience some of the best Italian food. You can get some amazing wine, too. In fact, if you go to a country area, you will be able to enjoy an authentic Italian meal without the tourists. This is a wonderful opportunity to get some of the food and wine that you will only find in Italy.
Visit the Amalfi Coast
The Amalfi Coast is one of the most picturesque regions of Italy. Amalfi, also known as the Gulf of Salerno, is a stretch of coastline that stretches from just outside the small city of Castellammare di Stabia in southern Italy and across to the eastern coast of Sicily. The area is known for its beautiful beaches, clear blue waters, and warm summer weather. But it’s also a great place to visit if you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
Go Village Hopping in Cinque Terre
The name “cinque terre” means five lands, which refers to the five towns of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. These five towns are the five main stops on the Cinque Terre hiking trail. Each town is a charming little village. The land sits along the Italian Riviera and is protected by UNESCO’s World Heritage Site status. It’s an extremely popular destination among travelers, but many don’t know the secret spots to go and see.
You can take a train to Monterosso or to the other side of the town. From there, you can walk to one of the five main villages or you can take a train if you’d prefer. I chose to walk to Riomaggiore. The views from the trails are beautiful. There are so many places to stop along the way and enjoy the scenery.
Snorkel and Chill in Sardinia
One of the most iconic destinations for beaches in Italy is the waters around Sardinia. It’s a small place, and the weather is often quite hot, but the beach life and atmosphere are wonderful. The climate is mild all year round and the water is warm, shallow, and crystal clear. Tourists tend to come in the summer months, especially between mid-June and August, and then leave in early September.
Visit a Gorgeous Lake Town
Italy has a number of lake towns that are perfect to keep the spark going. One of the most popular is undoubtably Lake Como, the village where even George Clooney has a home. Lake Como has a lot to offer because it is close to the Swiss Alps. You will be able to enjoy the views of the mountains when you are at the lake. The area also has many beautiful beaches that are perfect for swimming. You can also take a walk along the shoreline or get some fresh air by going for a hike.
Other popular lakes include Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. You can visit these lakes on a day tour or as part of a multi-day trip in a hotel of your choosing.
Wine Tasting Tuscany
Wine Tasting is always a good idea, and Tuscany is famous for its amazing wines. It’s a pretty simple concept: you’re supposed to make yourself more comfortable, relax, and enjoy the experience. Tasting a new wine is a great way to do just that.
With all the different styles of wines and regions of Italy, why is wine from Tuscany considered the best in the world? There’s a reason that wine from Tuscany is considered to be the best. After all, it’s the birthplace of the vine and the home of some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in Europe. It’s also the place where the term “Wine Tasting” was born.
Rent a Scooter and Explore the Island of Sicily
If you want to get into some great travel ideas and explore Sicily on your next vacation, why not rent a scooter and get around the island? Renting a scooter will not only allow you to explore the city more comfortably, but also save you the frustration of trying to get around on public transport.
What’s there to see in Sicily? You can visit Mount Etna, the island’s biggest volcano, the beaches, the castles and towns and the wonderful cuisine. Sicily is full of interesting things to see and do. You can visit one of the world’s largest lagoons in the world, or visit the wine country around the area of Palermo, the capital city of Sicily.
In conclusion, Italy has a reputation for being a very romantic place to visit. Whether you’re there to enjoy the nightlife, take a break from the hustle and bustle of your own city, or simply get away from it all for a while, you’ll find that Italy is a magical country that’s well worth experiencing.
For bonus points choose to plan your trip around a specific occasion, such as a wedding anniversary or birthday, as this will be a time when you will want to be in the perfect environment to celebrate. In any case, I hope you found these romantic ideas helpful for planning your next trip to Italy.
